How GlobeTap handles your data — and why a keyboard utility asking for Accessibility access is safe.

In short: GlobeTap collects nothing, stores nothing about you, and has no networking code at all. It needs Accessibility permission to do its one job, and it uses that permission for nothing else.
Scope
This policy explains how the GlobeTap macOS app and this website handle information. GlobeTap is made by Andrii Mahda ("I", "me") and is distributed free of charge from this site.
Accessibility permission — what it means
macOS offers exactly one way for an app to notice a key press system-wide and act on it: Accessibility access. GlobeTap cannot do its job without it, which is why it asks on first launch.
That permission is broad by design, so here is precisely what GlobeTap uses it for — three things, and nothing else:
- It watches for the Globe key, so it can switch your input source when you press it.
- It notices which app is frontmost, so each app can keep its own language.
- It checks whether the element under your pointer is a text field, so it can show the language label next to your cursor.
It never reads what those fields contain, and it never records what you type. Your keystrokes are not logged, not written to disk, and not transmitted — there is nowhere for them to go, because the app contains no networking code.
You can revoke the permission at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility. GlobeTap will stop switching input sources and will do nothing else.
What the app stores
Your preferences (which input sources are in the rotation, whether to launch at login) are stored locally on your Mac in the app's own settings. They never leave the device and are not synced anywhere.
What I collect
Nothing. GlobeTap contains no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, and no third-party SDKs of any kind. I have no way of knowing that you installed it, let alone how you use it.
Network connections
The app makes none. It does not check for updates, does not phone home, and works identically with your Mac offline.
This website
The site is served by a third-party static host. Like most websites, the host may keep standard technical request logs (such as IP address, timestamp, and browser type) for security and reliability — this includes the request that downloads the app. I add no analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising cookies, and I do not receive download statistics tied to any individual.
Your control over your data
Because I hold none of your data, there is nothing for you to request, correct, or delete from me. Removing the app removes its preferences; revoking Accessibility access stops it working immediately.
Children
GlobeTap is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, I'll update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
